Class Descriptions

Yoga is for Every BODY!  You listen to your BODY & do what you can do for that day.

Yogi Barre

Yogi Barre fitness classes are simply ballet-inspired, incorporating a ballet barre and some plies
 and pirouettes here and there into the workout. Essentially, barre classes mix elements of yoga, dance, pilates and functional training, and the moves are choreographed to motivating music.

You’ve admired dancers’ bodies, admit it (we all have). The barre is used as a prop to balance while doing exercises that focus on isometric strength training (holding your body still while you contract a specific set of muscles) combined with high reps of small range-of-motion movements. Yogi Barre combines yoga, pilates and ballet moves to give you the beautiful, sculpted, lean muscles – without the impact and injuries a lot of people are getting from other types of exercise.

The class will sometimes incorporate light handheld weights to bring the burn during all those reps, as well as mats for targeted core work and yoga. This class, just like all at North Georgia Yoga will end with the most important pose of all (and everyone’s favorite) Savasana.

 It’s about the physical as well as the aesthetic benefits of lengthening muscles, while strengthening them.

The other, just as significant, aspect of Yogi Barre is the focus it demands. The mind and body will become reconnected, as it should be. The focus you reclaim as you go through your workout – armed (with well-defined arms we might add) to face this journey of life calmly, confidently, health-fully.


All Levels Yoga Flow & Restore
All Levels Yoga Flow, focuses on building strength and flexibility through stretching, breathing, relaxing, and practicing asana. Here, however, pranayama (breath) and asana (postures) are brought together in relationship to one another to begin to explore the first pieces of vinyasa (moving on breath.)  The latter part of the class is "yummy" restorative poses. 

Classes end with deep relaxation and a guided visualization to help release tension and reduce stress. This class is appropriate for people new to yoga as well as yogis who have been practicing for some time.


Restorative Yoga
Restorative Yoga is a form of yoga that seeks to achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation with the aid of props. The use of props makes it easier for you to maintain balance while you are stimulating and relaxing your body, therefore allowing it to get deeper into the body and connective tissue. Restorative Yoga is appropriate for all students seeking the benefits of a very relaxing, gentle and restorative practice. Deep restorative work improves range of motion and joint mobility, reduces pain and the effects of stress. Students with injuries, arthritis or other chronic conditions, limitations related to age or size, as well as students with a more vigorous yoga practice or exercise regimen, will benefit from this practice.  No prior yoga experience required.  Restorative yoga explores the stress that is held in your muscles, connective tissues, organs and glands. It is a MUST in our action addicted world!!!  :-)


Private Yoga / Professional Yoga Therapy / Prenatal / Postnatal


Originally, yoga was taught by one teacher directly to one student. The great ancient teachers understood the importance of individualizing each yoga experience to meet the needs of the student. Today, a private session allows for a more intimate view into your practice. You can start a new practice, deepen your practice or spend some time working with an injury or condition. When you work with a teacher one on one, the teacher is able to help you experience the benefits of yoga in a safe, personal way.

Private Yoga is an invaluable tool for students of all levels and experience. Private lessons provide the perfect setting to address your goals and work on areas of individual interest. You can work with the teacher of your choice or we can match a teacher to meet your expressed needs. Private Yoga can help you deepen your practice, gain confidence, answer questions and provide guidance. Our teachers can develop a home practice tailored to your individual needs.

For new students
As a new student, you may be intimidated by the public classroom environment. Private classes allow teachers the opportunity to focus on you and make sure you are getting off to an appropriate start. Private yoga instruction can help you integrate into our public classes. We can also provide one on one classes with your teacher on an ongoing basis.

For more experienced students
Experienced students benefit from privates as well. You are able to have a deeper insight into specific postures or categories of postures that interest you. Private yoga sessions are the perfect learning environment, with individed attention on you with posture alignment, modifications and can help you develop a balanced home practice. Private yoga classes can also give the experienced student time to learn about yoga philosophy or other aspects of interest, such as meditation and breathing practices.

Professional Yoga Therapy sessions
For those working with an injury or facing a health condition, therapeutic yoga sessions can help you do yoga safely and promote self-healing. Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga - classes that's all about you & hour baby!!

Prenatal
Our gently practice will help you to improve circulation, ease digestion, maintain a limber spine, strengthen your uterus and pelvic muscles, and simply make you more at ease throughout your pregnancy. We take plenty of time to share and address common challenges we face over the prenatal journey including nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, and back pain. Through yoga, breath work, meditation, and discussion you will develop confidence and nurture your innate wisdom to connect with your baby and enjoy the magical process of pregnancy and birth. It is our intention to make you feel well cared for, more calm, comfortable and confident with every class. Our prenatal classes are for women at all stages of pregnancy. No previous yoga experience necessary

Postnatal - Mom & Baby or Just Mom

This class focuses on asana to rejuvenate your body after childbirth. Rebuild strength and soothe the aches of new parenthood while connecting with your newest addition. After 50 minutes of yoga we will focus on bonding with our new babies through infant bodywork and gentle stretching. Open to all parents and caregivers and babies 6 weeks old up to crawlers. Bring an extra baby blanket for your babe to chill on.
